Melaleuca huegelii, or Chenille Honey-myrtle, is a shrub or small tree which is endemic to Western Australia. Its pink, white or purple flowers appear between early spring and mid summer (September to January in Australia).
It usually ranges between 0.5 and 5 metres in height and occurs in coastal areas on limestone cliffs, dunes and plains.
Melaleuca huegelii was named for the collector of the type specimen, Carl von Huegel, who found the species growing at Fremantle in 1833. The formal description of the species was published by Stephan Endlicher in his Enumeratio plantarum in 1837.
